Manila – One of three members of an Independent Commission on Infrastructure has resigned from the government’s body investigating widespread corruption in construction projects.
A former public works and highway secretary, Rogelio Singson, has resigned effective December 15 but “could be extended” until December 31.
Singson said “the very intense and stressful ICI work has been taking its toll on his aging body”. He is 77 years old.
ICI head, retired Supreme Court associate justice Andres Reyes said he has no information yet on who will succeed Singson, adding that the agency has not considered any personality to recommend for the vacated post.
“No, we have not thought of that; we have been very busy,” Reyes said when asked if the ICI had any recommendations. (Podcast: Episode 3: Corruption’s impact on Philippine defense)
“Anyway, it’s not my concern, that is the recommendation of the President so I don’t know who it could be,” he added.
